Eating Well-Living Well with Kidney Disease: Dietary Approaches to Healthy Living (Eating Well-Living Well)
Customer Review: a start, but with some big mistakes
I got this book along with many others in order to learn more about my renal disease. I read this one first, and was impressed by the clarity of the explanations. However, after reading more about renal diets I became aware that the nutritional information given in the book for specific foods was grossly incorrect.
I DO NOT reccommend using this book as a guide to meal planning and preparation. It is far too basic, leaves out too many foods, and furthermore it gives dangerously incorrect content levels of sodium, potassium, and phosphorus for specific foods. Upon reading other renal diet books it is clear that the levels of some foods are 3 to 4 times higher than stated in this book. Please be careful with your health and double check.

Also, this book is very misleading, in that it refuses to allow for vegetarian or low meat-protein diets. Many studies have been done that show that vegetarian diets are FINE for those with renal disease. Again, double check for the sake of your health.
